MADELYN ALVAREZ, AMFT
Associate Therapist
Hi, I’m Madelyn! I’m a registered yoga teacher and a therapist — so you better believe I know the power of the breath. I’m all about how regulating the nervous system can help us keep emotions in check, both in and out of the therapy room. This mind-body connection is at the heart of my work with kids. In our sessions, we use art, games, movement, and creativity to build emotional awareness, practice calming tools, and give kids a safe space to express what’s going on inside. You know it's working when kids actually look forward to coming to see their therapist.

The kids I work best with are often in elementary or middle school — bright, sensitive, and maybe feeling like they’re not quite measuring up. They might have trouble managing big feelings or finding the words to talk about what’s bothering them. I often hear from parents, “I know something’s off, but I just don’t know how to help.” It’s incredibly tough to feel like you're on the outside of your child’s inner world, sensing that something isn’t right but not knowing what they need.

That’s where the power of play comes in. I combine creative, developmentally appropriate approaches with evidence-based tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help kids better understand their emotions and feel more confident navigating them. I also bring a trauma-informed lens to this work, supporting both children and their families with empathy and skill. I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #151422), supervised by Kelly McCullough, LCSW (License #80807). If your child is feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or just not like themselves, you don’t have to figure it out alone — I’m here to help.
